Biography

Theodore T. Allen, Ph.D. is a professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering and Computer Science Engineering (courtesy) at The Ohio State University. He is the author of over 70 refereed publications focusing on the intersection of optimization and novel experimental planning methods including for games, "high-level" data, and multiple fidelity optimization. These include two textbooks published by Springer Verlag including a third edition textbook on engineering statistics. Dr. Allen is a fellow of ASQ. He has been awarded approximately $6M of research. He is an area editor of Computers and Industrial Engineering (IF:7.2) and a past associate editor of the Journal of Manufacturing Systems (IF:9.5) and has been a reviewer and on the editorial board for numerous journals and organizations including Operations Research, IISE Transactions, and Technometrics. Dr. Allen has developed novel methods and theory inspired by multiple impactful applications. These include contributing to savings of likely over $117M for DHL (see IJAA and CAIE publications), helping millions of people to vote more easily (see POMS, IIE Transactions, and CAIE publications), shortening the response times at OSU's four hospitals (see Human Factors publication), and shortening hospital discharge times (see Quality Engineering publication). Dr. Allen is the past president of the INFORMS Social Media Analytics Section and the president and founder of the educational non-profit organization factSpread.
