Students and faculty from The Ohio State University will host OHI/O, the university’s third annual 24-hour hackathon, November 14-15, at the Ohio Union.

Hackathons are extended computer coding sessions where students collaborate to create a new app, web site or software that solves a problem or may meet a need in the marketplace.

More than 350 students from Ohio State and other Midwest schools are expected to converge on Columbus to spend the weekend building exciting technology projects. After 24 hours of “hacking,” the teams at OHI/O will present their ideas to fellow students, faculty, and tech company representatives. Teams will be judged on categories including technical difficulty, creativity, usefulness, and presentation.

Dozens of industry professionals interested in the talent and technology on display also are expected to attend the final showcase on November 15, where more than $5,000 in prizes will be awarded to the most innovative projects.

OHI/O is sponsored by Wexner Medical Center, Translational Data Analytics, Rockwell Automation, Hyland, Aver, Esri, Epic, RetailMeNot, Battelle, AwareAbility, covermymeds, TechnicalYouth, Aerotek, Google, Soylent, and Beam Dental.
