The Banvard Gallery in Knowlton Hall is preparing to open its next exhibition - ecoMOD: Sustainable, Affordable, and Prefab - which will open on Monday, January 12th and run through Friday, March 6th.

John Quale, the leader of the ecoMOD project, will present a gallery talk on Monday, January 12th at 5:30 PM with a reception following.

About ecoMOD

ecoMOD is a research and design / build / evaluate project at the University of Virginia School of Architecture that aims to create a series of ecological, modular and affordable house prototypes. Working in partnership with the UVA School of Engineering and Applied Science, our goal is to demonstrate the environmental and economic potential of prefabrication, and to challenge the modular and manufactured housing industry in the U.S. to explore this potential. An interdisciplinary group of architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, historic preservation, business, environmental science, planning and economics students are participating in the design, construction and evaluation phases of this multi-year project. The ecoMOD exhibit will feature the four projects developed thus far - three of which are for the Piedmont Housing Alliance, and one of which is for Habitat for Humanity.
