Engineering Cures for Cancer

All dates for this event occur in the past.

Did you know Buckeye Engineers play an important role in Ohio State’s world-class cancer research initiatives? Join Dean David Williams to learn about the new Center for Cancer Engineering and the collaborative cancer research of our faculty and staff. The future of cancer detection, prevention, and treatment is right now, right at Ohio State.

Featuring:

  • Jennifer Leight, assistant professor of biomedical engineering, who is replicating a patient’s tumor in the lab to create a personalized medicine approach to treating it.
  • David McComb, professor of materials science and engineering and director of the Center for Electron Microscopy and Analysis, where cryo-electron microscopy is becoming a crucial tool for researchers discovering and developing targeted drugs for cancer.
  • Hossein Ahmadian Ahmadabad, postdoctoral scholar in integrated systems engineering, who works with the Spine Research Institute to build a predictive framework to better assess the impact of cancer treatments such as radiation therapy and to improve quality of life for metastatic spine cancer patients.
