Dr. Edwin Lee II is the Assistant Director for Student Academic Success in the Community, Access, Retention, & Empowerment (CARE) Office. His work focuses on equipping engineering students with metacognitive problem solving skills that help them develop mastery in the classroom and apply that problem solving experience to working in engineering. He manages the Academic Coaching in Engineering (ACE) program in which student academic coaches work with their peers to help develop their engineering problem solving skills by focusing on metacognition. He leads the CAR ExCELS program, a collaborative effort between CARE and the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) to provide hands-on engineering experience for students in their second year and beyond without internship or co-op experience. He also leads the ACCELERATE second-year bridge program, which provides rising second year students with opportunities to work on engineering projects with faculty in the College of Engineering and develop career autonomy through intentional planning. Dr. Lee also serves as the co-advisor to OSU's chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE).

Dr. Lee completed his undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering at Louisiana State University and completed his MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering at The Ohio State University as an advisee of Prof. Siddharth Rajan.

His favorite quote is from Toni Morrison: “I tell my students, 'When you get these jobs that you have been so brilliantly trained for, just remember that your real job is that if you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else. This is not just a grab-bag candy game.'”
