Ohio State selected to participate in U.S. CYBERCOM Academic Engagement Network
The U.S. Cyber Command has chosen The Ohio State University to join its Academic Engagement Network (AEN), a partnership of U.S. colleges and universities tasked with promoting cybersecurity workforce growth and collaborating on research and analytics.
Cyber Command is the nation’s unified combatant command for the cyberspace domain. Headquartered with the National Security Agency at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, it coordinates cyberspace operations to defend and advance national interests in collaboration with domestic and international partners.
Launched in January 2022, Cyber Command’s AEN aims to advance cybersecurity in working toward four main goals: engaging the future workforce; increasing applied research and innovation; expanding cyber-focused analytics partnerships; and enriching strategic cyber dialogue between academia and the U.S.'s cybersecurity operations.
Ohio State is one of almost 100 universities, community colleges, service academies and federal graduate level colleges across the nation who are members of AEN. Ohio State’s Institute for Cybersecurity & Digital Trust (ICDT) will partner with Cyber Command to assist in mission innovation, engage and inspire students to consider military and civilian careers in the U.S. Department of Defense, and participate in research projects that study adversaries’ cyber strategies and organization.
ICDT was established in January 2020 to organize the university’s collective data security assets and collaborate with partners nationwide.
"The Ohio State University’s selection is a recognition of the outstanding faculty and staff working alongside the ICDT in the College of Engineering,” said ICDT Managing Director Julia Armstrong. “As a large R1 research institution, Ohio State holds a unique position in its ability to develop solutions to our nation’s cybersecurity and digital trust problems. We look forward to working with U.S. Cyber Command on these and other initiatives.”
