Bobby Srivastava has been named chief administrative officer in The Ohio State University College of Engineering to oversee budgeting, strategic financial and resource planning, and shared services procurement operations.

Bobby Srivastava

Currently, Srivastava is the College of Engineering’s assistant dean for research, supporting Associate Dean for Research Andre Palmer and the college’s $140 million research enterprise. In this role, he is responsible for oversight of the college’s strategic research investments, financial management across 10 research centers, and leading a team of 24 staff supporting center operations and college-wide sponsored programs. Prior to his appointment as assistant dean for research, Srivastava served in progressive leadership roles within Engineering Research Administration, and as business manager for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

In his new role as chief administrative officer, Srivastava will be responsible for ensuring financial sustainability and strength during the upcoming period of expansion and growth in faculty, students and research. He will lead development and implementation of the annual college budget and long-term projections and forecasts for college-wide strategic initiatives. He also will serve as principal advisor to Dean Ayanna Howard and college leadership on all financial and resource allocation matters.

“Bobby provides the perfect complement to the new strategic thinking required for this role,” commented Dean Howard. “His familiarity and experience with college operations will integrate nicely with his desire to innovate, optimize and proactively collaborate with the departments in order to respond to opportunities critical to our success.”

Prior to joining the College of Engineering in 2012, Srivastava worked for KIPP, a national network of 270 charter schools focused on closing the achievement gap. As a founding member of two schools now serving nearly 2,000 students, Srivastava provided leadership in all business functions including finance, human resources, operations, facilities, compliance, transportation, food service and technology.

A Columbus native, Srivastava holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Miami University, and a Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Administration from The Ohio State University. He is also Six Sigma Green Belt certified through Ohio State’s Center for Operational Excellence.

“Serving as the CAO for the College of Engineering is the greatest honor of my career,” said Srivastava. “Marie Mead is a brilliant leader who strategically positioned this college to financially and operationally thrive. With big shoes to fill and Dean Howard’s inspiring vision, this is an exciting time to be in the College of Engineering. I am so eager to begin this very important work in support of our students, faculty and staff.”

He will begin serving as chief administrative officer on November 15.
