Triple Match campaign generates record giving from recent grads

Posted:

When College of Engineering alumni join together to impact students, faculty and research, they accomplish great things.

Pay 4ward Triple Match

Since the Pay 4ward Triple Match campaign launched in 2017, 558 donors have invested $355,216 to help Buckeye engineers and architects reach their potential by supporting scholarships and professorships, research and hands-on experience, cornerstone programs, and new initiatives.

During the 2019 online giving campaign held last November, 216 recent graduates gave $38,343—the highest ever during its history and a 59% increase over 2018. In addition, 93 alumni made their first gift to the College of Engineering.

Thanks to the special three-to-one matching opportunity, the campaign raised $153,732 for college scholarships, programs and initiatives such as the Sustainable and Resilient Communities Service Learning Project, First-Year Engineering Honors Program, Formula Buckeyes and the College of Engineering Priority Scholarship Fund.

"“The investment from more than 200 alumni during the 2019 campaign, which was tripled, provides critical support for student organizations and scholarships,” said Anne Strychalski, associate director of annual giving and reporting for the college. “This support lifts the burden for students and allows them to thrive inside and outside the classroom.”

Matching funds were provided by lead donors Jim Dietz (BS '69, MS '70, chemical engineering), Rob Savage (BS '83, industrial and systems engineering) and Larry Schavey (BS ’69, electrical engineering).

During the 2019 campaign, mechanical engineering alumni gave back to their department more than any other and alumni from 2018 gave back more than any other class. Donors from 25 states contributed, behind Ohio donors (116), Washington state had the next highest concentration of donors (23).
