Alexandrov recognized for distinguished contributions to materials science and engineering

Materials Science and Engineering Professor Alexandrov Boian has been elected to the class of 2019 ASM International Fellows. He is recognized for educating engineers and seminal contributions to the understanding and application of welding metallurgy that has improved the safety of welded structures. 

Alexandrov joined Ohio State in 2004 after 19 years as a faculty member at the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. He was elected Fellow of the American Welding Society in 2015. Boian developed innovative methods for weldability evaluation and contributed to resolving major weldability problems in industry.

ASM International is the world's largest association of materials-centric engineers and scientists. It established the honor of Fellow of ASM (FASM) in 1969 to provide recognition to ASM members for their distinguished contributions to materials science and engineering.
