Three of The Ohio State University’s online degree programs have been named among the nation’s best by U.S. News & World Report in the 2017 rankings released today.

Ohio State’s online bachelor’s degree offerings are ranked eighth by the publication. Graduate engineering programs placed 18th and the College of Nursing online graduate programs ranked third.

The College of Engineering offers two online graduate degrees: an MS in welding engineering and the Master of Global Engineering Leadership.

“The new ranking affirms the hard work of our faculty and staff to provide a quality, online degree for working engineers,” said Bob Mick, director of professional programs in the College of Engineering. “Our graduates consistently express how the program’s curriculum flexibility and real-world application is positively impacting their career advancement.”

Online courses offer flexibility for students – especially for those working full-time – and are gaining in popularity. Ohio State offers 15 online degree programs and is dedicated to building an e-Learning portfolio that makes the university a national leader.

“At the core of our philosophy is the belief that an online degree must have the same challenging curriculum and engaging faculty as you receive on campus,” said Mike Hofherr, vice president and chief information officer. “The continued strength of our online degree offerings reflects the importance of this philosophy. Over the last year, we have dramatically expanded the states in which we offer degrees and look forward to growing the network of Buckeyes receiving a high-quality online degree all across the country.”

The College of Nursing offers three online nursing degrees and one multidisciplinary program.

Ohio State online programs are available in most states. Degrees available include: the RN to BSN, MS in nursing, the doctor of nursing practice (DNP), the new master of healthcare innovation (MHI), BS in health sciences, BS and MS in dental hygiene, master of plant health management (MPHM), master of applied clinical and preclinical research (MACPR), master of art education, MA in bioethics, master of global engineering leadership, master of learning technologies, MS in agricultural and extension education, MS in welding engineering and the master of social work (MSW).
