In U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 Best Graduate Schools issue, several departments within The Ohio State University College of Engineering placed among the top programs in the nation. “We take pride in being the top producer of engineering talent and innovation in Ohio, where thriving aerospace, automotive, manufacturing and biomedical companies are in constant need of both,” said College of Engineering Dean David B. Williams.

Ohio State’s Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering was ranked 11th among its peers within American universities. The nuclear engineering program, part of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, ranks 13th overall.

Other top 25 engineering programs at Ohio State include industrial/manufacturing engineering (17), electrical engineering (19), materials engineering (19), aerospace engineering (20) and mechanical engineering (25).

While overall engineering graduate school rankings are derived from a combination of 10 indicators, the publication’s engineering specialty rankings are based solely on peer assessments by department heads in each area. The peer assessment surveys for the specialty area rankings were conducted in fall 2015.

In January, Ohio State ranked 25th in the 2016 U.S. News & World Report Best Online Graduate Engineering Programs rankings. The publication's 2015 edition of Best Colleges ranked Ohio State's engineering undergraduate academic program 16th among public universities whose highest degree is a doctorate.
