On February 10 in the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, Dean David B. Williams participated in a U.S. Innovation & Global Competitiveness panel hosted by Senators Chris Coons (DE), Jerry Moran (KS) and Cory Gardner (CO).

He was joined on the esteemed panel by Alerion Chairman Hamilton Moses, Intel Corporation Mark Seager and Fraunhofer USA Center for Molecular Biotechnology Executive Director Vidadi Yusibov. The event was organized and moderated by the Information Technology & Innovation Foundation.

The starting point for discussion was ITIF's new report, Contributors and Detractors: Ranking Countries’ Impact on Global Innovation, which assesses 56 nations on the extent to which their policies contribute to and detract from the global innovation ecosystem. The U.S. ranks 10th overall, revealing there is room to improve its human capital, R&D, technology, and tax policies if it wants to maximize its global competitiveness and innovation potential. This event explored what policies Congress can pursue in 2016 to improve America’s standing and become the world leader in global innovation.
