Recent graduate Melissa Lindsey (’15, biomedical engineering) was honored with the SWE Outstanding Collegiate Member award for “academic excellence in biomedical engineering, for positive and effective SWE leadership, and for inspiring young women to follow her example as a humanistic engineer.” Now part of the society's board of directors as the collegiate director, Lindsey serves as the voice of the society's collegiate students and ensures their needs are met.

“SWE has impacted my life in countless ways,” said Lindsey. “It is the perfect opportunity for networking beyond your immediate community and is a way to make friends while improving your leadership, networking and engineering skills. I am still involved in SWE as a professional and it has allowed me to make connections beyond my school or even my state.”

Four other Buckeye engineers were awarded scholarships at the event. Ann Graff, a sophomore materials science and engineering major, received the MASWE Scholarship; Christina Steiner and Jaclyn Thomason, junior industrial and systems engineering majors, each won a GE Women’s Network Scholarship; and Erica Brackman, senior chemical engineering major, was awarded the Judy Simmons Memorial Scholarship.
