Mary Juhas named WEPAN President-Elect

Ohio State’s commitment to women in engineering is evident as Associate Vice President for Gender Initiatives in STEMM Mary Juhas continues in a leadership role with the Women in Engineering ProActive Network (WEPAN). Formerly the director of strategic partnerships, Juhas will serve as WEPAN’s 2014-15 president-elect.

In addition to her university role, Juhas is also a clinical associate professor of materials science and engineering in the College of Engineering.

WEPAN is the nation’s leading organization and catalyst for transforming culture in engineering education, and its core purpose is to propel higher education to increase the number and advance the prominence of diverse communities of women in engineering.

As director of strategic partnerships, Juhas led efforts to launch WEPAN’s ACE Initiative, Advancing Culture in Engineering. ACE will align industry and education to create positive academic, social and workforce cultures that retain and graduate many more underrepresented student engineers and meet corporate needs for a diverse, globally competent workforce.
