QIC Global Infrastructure (QIC) through CampusParc has committed $150,000 to The Ohio State University over the next five years to support scholarships for student exchanges with the University of Queensland in Australia as well as internships in the areas of engineering and finance.  QIC through CampusParc manages Ohio State’s parking operations.

Undergraduate students majoring in engineering and materials science will be targeted at the outset of the program.

Univ. of Queensland, Australia

Undergraduate students, postgraduate students and researchers from both Ohio State and the University of Queensland will have an opportunity to study for one semester abroad followed by a one- to six-month internship at a QIC company, external organization, or the host university.

Students will be selected based on merit as well as their ability to contribute to the defined academic or research projects identified by CampusParc, Ohio State and the University of Queensland. Projects already proposed by CampusParc include research involving solar panels through the College of Engineering and Fisher College of Business, as well as a study conducted on experimental paving designed to collect solar energy and melt snow.

Plans call for the scholarship criteria to be developed and deadlines for applications scheduled later this year. Representatives in Ohio State’s College of Engineering will nominate candidates for consideration to the selections committee, and students would begin their exchange in 2015.

Ohio State and the University of Queensland are members of Universitas 21, the leading global network of research-intensive universities, working together to foster global citizenship and institutional innovation through research-inspired teaching and learning and student mobility.
