Eleven engineering students earn national welding scholarships

Eleven Ohio State Welding Engineering students recently received national scholarships from the American Welding Society (AWS) Foundation.

The AWS Foundation recently expanded its national scholarship program, which now includes 21 individual scholarships each worth a minimum of $2,500 annually for students at an accredited four-year college or university.

Rex Alexandre – John C. Lincoln Memorial Scholarship
Preston Anderson – Donald and Shirley Hastings Scholarship
Joe Bassindale (graduate student) – Robert L. Peaslee Brazing Scholarship
Joan Lee – William A. and Ann M. Brothers Scholarship
Samuel Luther – Praxair International Scholarship
Jacob Marchal – Jack R. Barckhoff Welding Management Scholarship
Evan O’Brien – Victor Technologies Cutting and Welding Scholarship
Conner Sarich – Donald F. Hastings Scholarship
Matthew Schmitz – Jack R. Barckhoff Welding Management Scholarship
Emeric Suma – Howard E. and Wilma J. Adkins Memorial Scholarship

The AWS Foundation was established by AWS in 1989 to support programs that ensure the growth and development of the welding industry through strengthening research and educational opportunities in welding and related industries.
