2010-11 Scholarship and Financial Aid Applications Due by March 1

Posted:

Scholarship and Financial Aid applications for the 2010-11 academic year are now available. The College of Engineering strongly encourages all undergraduate engineering students to file both the Ohio State Application for Special Scholarships and FAFSA (the federal student aid application) by the March 1, 2010 priority deadline. Links to the Ohio State Financial Aid website and helpful hints for completing the scholarship application are available at the College of Engineering Currently Enrolled Students/Scholarships web page: http://engineering.osu.edu/scholarships/current.php.

Ohio State’s Application for Special Scholarships is required for all College of Engineering and engineering departmental scholarships. This on-line application has replaced the paper scholarship application required in past years, which is no longer accepted by either the College or engineering departments. All students should follow the instructions and helpful hints listed at COE Currently Enrolled Students/Scholarships web page to maximize your potential results from this application.

We also recommend that all students file the FAFSA by March 1. About one third of our engineering scholarship funds have financial need as one of their selection criteria. All financial need is determined by the FAFSA filing. Therefore, if you want to be eligible for any need-based scholarships, you must file FAFSA. Also, the most favorable loans (lowest interest rates and most reasonable repayment plans) are federal direct loans, which require FAFSA filing.
Be sure to submit both applications prior to the March 1, 2010 deadline.
