Ohio State to Host Plug-In Electric Vehicle Summit

Ohio State University’s Center for Automotive Research will host “The PHEV Summit: Driving to Our Energy Future,” on Thursday (9/3). The PHEV Summit is sponsored by Ohio State and PJM Interconnection, the regional wholesale electricity transmission organization for much of the eastern United States.

Industry experts and leading researchers in the fields of electric energy transmission and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, as well as government officials and national and State of Ohio policy makers will present their perspectives on the future of electric vehicles and their impact on the electric grid.

Limited invitation summit to discuss the latest utility, automaker, policy and research perspectives of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and how a collaborative approach to the issues can drive the best solutions.

The Ohio State Center for Automotive Research (CAR), home of the Sustainable Mobility Advanced Research Team (SMART@CAR), 930 Kinnear Rd. Columbus, Ohio

DESCRIPTION:
The day-long event at the Center for Automotive Research will bring together representatives of the auto industry, electric utilities and federal and state governments to share information and discuss issues related to PHEVs and their integration into the electricity grid.

SMART@CAR is a broad spectrum consortium of members from the utility, automotive, electronics and transit industries that join together to examine the deployment of plug-in electric vehicles from all perspectives.

ATTENDEES:
About 50, representing public officials, industry representatives, third party providers and university officials. Trade and regional media are invited to attend.

The Center for Automotive Research is an interdisciplinary research center within the College of Engineering whose research projects center on advanced powertrain systems for reduced fuel consumption and emissions, including:

 

 


  • Intelligent transportation systems and autonomous vehicles

  • Noise, vibrations and dynamics

  • Vehicle chassis systems

  • Vehicle and occupant safety

CAR offers advanced experimental facilities that include engine and vehicle dynamometers; vibration, noise and acoustics laboratories; intelligent and autonomous vehicle laboratories; engine fluid mechanics and combustion research facilities; and electric, hybrid-electric propulsion, fuel cell and electrochemical energy storage research facilities.
