Marras named member of National Academy of Engineering

Ohio State professor William S. Marras has bee named a member of the National Academy of Engineering. This honor is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer, and honors those who have made outstanding contributions to engineering research, practice or education. Marras is the Honda Endowed Chair in the Department of Industrial, Welding and Systems Engineering, director of the Biodynamics Laboratory, director of the Center for Occupational Health in Automotive Manufacturing, and holds adjunct appointments in the departments of Orthopaedic Surgery, Physical Medicine, and Biomedical Engineering. He was named a National Academy of Engineering member for developing methods and models used to control costs and injuries associated with manual work in industry. Marras’ election brings the number of Ohio State engineering faculty who are academy members to 11.
