Application Process

The application for the 2024 program is now closed.

Application Timeline

  • December 20: Application opens
  • February 21: Application deadline
  • February 22 - March: Application Review and Application Interviews
  • Mid to late March: Acceptance Notifications
  • April 8: Student Commitment Deadline

BUCKEYE REU Eligibility Criteria

  • Undergraduate students in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Life Sciences or other related science major 
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Sophomores, juniors or seniors enrolled in 2- or 4-year colleges or universities in the U.S.
  • Interest in BMMB research projects as reflected in their application materials
  • No prior research experience required

Application Requirements

  • Completed Application (online)
  • Statement of Research
  • Undergraduate Transcript
  • Resume
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • Personal Statement addressing the prompt: “Why are you interested in participating in the BUCKEYE REU SITE program?”
  • Essay responses (250 max) to the prompts: “Tell us about a personal barrier, hardship, adversity that you have faced, the skills you utilized or developed to overcome it, and how those skills have prepared you to be successful in your discipline." AND “Tell us about your academic or research accomplishments and life experiences and/or special circumstances that may have impacted your performance or preparation for graduate school.”
