Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Resources
Message from the Interim Assistant Dean and Chief Diversity Officer:
Welcome to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) resource page
Our website offers an important space for sharing information, empowerment through education and support. The Learning Opportunities page will be updated each month with upcoming Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) events taking place within the Ohio State Community or hosted by diversity organizations. Events also count towards the Inclusive Excellence Certificate Program. As member of the Buckeye Engineering community we must continue to increase our own awareness and understanding of DEI. We encourage you to use the resources provided below as well as the Holiday and Heritage Calendar, Inclusive Terms and Language page, and the Anti-Racism links and resources as we work to become self-aware and as a tools to help increase our leadership skills, build mutual respect for each other and create a sense of community within our units. Whether you are a student, staff or faculty member you will discover ways you can personally make a positive contribution to diversity, equity and inclusion in the College of Engineering.
June – LGBTQ+ Pride Month/Homophobia/Transphobia
Some people claim that the number of LGBTQ+ folks are on the rise, others argue that it’s just becoming more acceptable to openly be yourself. If you are not part of the LGBTQ+ community (and maybe even if you are) it can be difficult to understand the letters, social implications, and workplace discrimination faced by this population. This month, take some time to learn about LBGTQ+ folks making their mark on the world. In this month’s content, we’ll learn what the letters mean, and get an introduction to issues facing this population, and how we can best be allies. Visit the Learning Opportunities page for upcoming events as well as Columbus Pride to learn more.
