You are cordially invited to join a college-wide book club that will be reading “Inclusive Teaching: Strategies for Promoting Equity in the College Classroom” by Kelly A. Hogan and Viji Sathy. The seven virtual meetings (one per chapter) will occur approximately every two weeks beginning October 4th and culminating with a virtual author visit to answer questions posed by the group. The College of Engineering CARE Office will provide the book to those who commit to attend at least 4 of the sessions.
This opportunity is being sponsored by the Community, Access, Retention, and Empowerment Office (CARE) and the Racial and Social Justice Community of Practice (RSJ CoP).
The 60-minute chapter discussions will all be held over Zoom from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM on the following dates.
- October 4, 2023 - Chapter 1: Inclusive Teaching as a Mindset
- October 18, 2023 - Chapter 2: The Value of Structure
- November 1, 2023 - Chapter 3: Designing Your Course and Syllabus with an Inclusive Mindset
- November 15, 2023 - Chapter 4: Launching Your Course
- November 29, 2023 - Chapter 5: Classroom Environment and Interaction
- December 6, 2023 - Chapter 6: Inclusive Practices Outside the Classroom
- January 24, 2024 - Chapter 7: Reflecting and Documenting.
