Helping Students Succeed during COVID-19

Joining together in the fight against COVID-19

In the wake of the coronavirus, Buckeyes have banded together to tackle many unexpected challenges. We have adapted, and with patience and determination, our students, faculty and staff are still pursuing our land-grant educational mission. During these unprecedented times, your support can make all the difference for our community.

Margaret Herlan Busch Student Assistance Fund

We are working with students to meet their needs, including adapting our grading policies, which will relieve stress and allow them to focus on their studies. Unfortunately, also weighing on our students is how they’ll afford basic necessities, such as rent, groceries and technology.

You can help students who need assistance due to job loss or other circumstances by supporting the Student Emergency Fund. This fund, administered by Student Life, directly covers costs for enrolled Ohio State undergraduate, graduate and professional students who apply for assistance. We are grateful for your support and want you to know that 100% of every gift goes to students and, should you choose to do so, you can direct your support to Engineering and Knowlton School students.

Other Ways to Help

Engineering Emergency Scholarship Fund

Immediate and basic needs are a high priority right now; however, as this crisis unfolds and recovery begins, we anticipate an increased need for scholarship support. A gift to the Engineering Emergency Scholarship Fund will provide assistance for students who are in danger of withdrawing due to unanticipated, temporary financial hardships. Your support will help cover tuition, room and board, books and other university expenses.

College of Engineering Priority Fund

You can also give to the College of Engineering Priority Fund, which will support unmet student needs as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. The college anticipates it will be drawing down on its existing discretionary funding and therefore this flexible funding is needed now more than ever.

We understand that now may not be the right time to give back. You can still be an important part of the fight against COVID-19.

Share Warm Wishes. Send your words of encouragement to our students and faculty at engineering@osu.edu. We’ll compile these messages on a page of our website to share with them.

Be a Buckeye. Reach out to family and friends to let them know you are there for them. Remember, we’re in this together!
