Research Expenditures

This dashboard provides an overview of research expenditures trends for the College of Engineering, following the guidelines established by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE)* and also used in the U.S. News & World Report annual survey. The dashboard may be viewed by department or expenditure type. 

Using this dashboard
Selecting an expenditure type (total expenditures, federal, state, industry or other) in the banner at the top allows the bar chart to be filtered to that type. Hovering over data points can display further information about the data in the view. Filters can be toggled on and off to show specified information about the data in the view. More information on filters, report controls and data definitions can be found under the “i” button (top right corner).

* Guidelines established by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) were crafted in the mid-2000s and have been modified from time to time by ASEE’s governing bodies. These rules were written with guidance from the Engineering Dean’s Council Data Committee. As of 2019, modifications to these rules require discussion and approval from the ASEE Engineering Deans Council Data Committee as well as input from the ASEE Data Collections National Advisory Board.
