Student Project Teams

Baja SAE

The purpose of the team is to design, construct, test, and race a prototype four wheeled, single-seat, off-road ATV vehicle powered by a Briggs & Stratton 10-hp engine.  The project provides hands on experience in areas such as computer-aided design and manufacturing, finite element modeling and analysis, welding, machining, human resource management, and fiscal management.

Accomplishments

2008
Placed 34th out of 122 entries in Montreal Canada.  Placed 2nd out of 16 entries at the Louisville Invitational.
2006
Placed 18th in Acceleration, 19th in Chain Pull, and 36th in Design out of 140 teams in the Midwest Competition
2005
24th overall out of 71 teams, 5th in Design, 9th in Cost in the East competition.  74th overall out of 116 teams, tied for 1st in the Powertrain event in the Midwest competition.
