Research opens the door to a world of creation, exploration, discovery, and the testing of ideas. Your experience as a faculty member, student or researcher at Ohio State University can be greatly enriched by the research opportunities available at OSU.
With total research expenditures of $496 million during FY03, Ohio State moved to 10th place up from 12th among public universities, and into 15th place among all research universities, public and private, up from 18th place. In terms of industrially sponsored research, Ohio State University ranks 6th nationally according to the National Science Foundation.
As a university Ohio State continues to improve on past successes. New research awards for fiscal year 2005 have climbed to $552 million. The funding total is a milestone reached by only a select few national research universities.
The College of Engineering showed a dramatic increase in funding, totaling $124.7 million in awards, an increase of 28.7 percent over last year. This funding commitment creates tremendous opportunities for our faculty and our students, and further demonstrates the reputation our engineering program holds.
