Civil, environmental and geodetic engineering students Cody Beucler, Mark Herber, Brooke Mathews, Chelsea McManamon, Andrea Mobley, and Mark Nemergut, and won first place in the Ohio Contractors Association Estimating Competition.

Three students from the College of Engineering received 2012 NASA Space Technology Research Fellowships from NASA’s Office of Chief Technology. Honored students, with their research area, are: Michael Eades, graduate student, nuclear engineering, will study space molten salt reactors for more capable and sustainable exploration; Matthew LaRue, electrical and computer engineering, will research high power transmitter technologies for ultra wideband multi-function RF operation; and Andrew Kintz, electrical and computer engineering, will research calibration of satellite antenna arrays using signals of opportunity.

Marc Khoury, a ’12 computer science and engineering alumnus, was named a 2012 Churchill Scholar for demonstrating exceptional academic talent, outstanding personal qualities, and a capacity to contribute to advancement in engineering.

Emily Marron, a ’12 environmental engineering alumnus who is pursuing graduate studies at ETH in Zurich, Switerland; and Kelsey Shaler, a graduate student in mechanical engineering, received 2012 National Science Foundation fellowships to support their graduate work.

Benjamin Reinke, a graduate student from Bowling Green studying nuclear engineering, will serve as a student member of the Board of Trustees for a two-year term ending in May 2014.

Michael Wolfe, a pre-major in the biomedical engineering, was named a 2011 Beckman Scholar.

Grant Yang, a senior in electrical and computer engineering, was named a 2012 Goldwater Scholar, the most prestigious national award for undergraduate researchers in science, math and engineering.
