Transportation Expert to Address Infrastructure Needs

Paul Yarossi, a national expert on transportation infrastructure, alternative funding and security, will be at Ohio State Aug. 30 to provide an engineering perspective on the need to secure our critical infrastructure while planning for a 21st century transportation network in Ohio and across the United States.

As a guest of Ohio State’s Center for Resilience on Aug. 30, he will be speaking in room 263 of Dreese Laboratories, 2015 Neil Ave., from 1 to 2 p.m.

Yarossi has spent 30 years in the transportation industry and is often sought after for his expertise on the country’s growing transportation needs. He is president of HNTB Holdings Ltd. and holds a number of high-level roles on behalf of the engineering industry, which gives him a broad perspective on current relevant issues and trends.

He co-chairs the SAFETEA-LU Reauthorization Task Force on behalf of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association, the U.S. transportation construction industry’s representative in Washington, D.C. The task force will bring forth recommendations on the next federal highway funding bill. Earlier this year he testified before a U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure subcommittee on highways and transit. He discussed some of the innovative options (and examples of their use across the country) that can help address the crisis of national transportation needs, which are outweighing available funding for the first time since the inception of the Interstate Highway System.

HNTB Corp. is a national, employee-owned infrastructure firm serving federal, state, municipal and private clients. Nearly 3,000 professionals in more than 60 offices nationwide provide planning, design, program management and construction management services for highway, toll road, bridge, airport, rail and water projects. Projects have included California’s Bay Area Rapid Transit District’s extension to the San Francisco International Airport and a statewide design-build program for the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Yarossi joined HNTB in 1973 and has been involved in nearly every aspect of the firm. He served as officer-in-charge for several HNTB offices in New York and New Jersey and as chairman of HNTB’s Aviation Services. He also was instrumental in developing HNTB’s training and development programs.

Yarossi also will be available for media interviews that day. To arrange an interview, or for more information, contact Lydia Steinberg, ldsteinberg@hntb.com or (816) 527-2324.
