Engineering Undergrad Program Ranks in Top 25 Nationally, Top 15 of Publics

The Ohio State College of Engineering has been recognized as one of the nation's top engineering programs, according to the U.S. News & World Report's 2008 edition of America's Best Colleges released today. U.S. News ranked Ohio State's engineering undergraduate academic program among the Top 25 of programs nationally, and among the Top 15 of public school programs.

"Our undergraduate academic program is a major priority for us at the College of Engineering," said William A. "Bud" Baeslack, III, dean of engineering at Ohio State. "The U.S. News rankings underscore the achievements we're making as a result of our College Performance Plan. Enhancements such as the establishment of the Engineering Education Innovation Center and increased research opportunities for undergraduates will make our students even better prepared for their careers in engineering."

Four engineering academic discipline programs also received top rankings. The agricultural engineering program is ranked eighth in the nation; industrial engineering ranked 14th; the materials science and engineering program is ranked 12th; and mechanical engineering ranked 21st in the U.S.
