Three Integrated Systems Engineering students form a team that is among just five selected worldwide to participate in a software simulation competition sponsored by the Institute of Industrial Engineers and Rockwell Automation.

The students, seniors Jonathan Carmona and Jake Miller and junior Josephine Jing, are using a virtual reality-type simulation to help a Fortune 500 manufacturing company improve its business units, which are currently losing millions of dollars in inventory carrying costs and annual sales.

The team, which had just two months to develop solutions, participates in the final event at the IIE Annual Conference May 30-June 3.

The four other teams are from ITESM-Monterrey in Mexico, Seoul National University, Kyonggi University and the University of Washington. The Ohio State team is advised by Ted Allen, associate professor, Integrated Systems Engineering.
