Grejner-Brzezinska named Royal Institute of Navigation Fellow

Dorota A. Grejner-Brzezinska, professor and chair of civil, environmental and geodetic engineering, was elected a 2014 Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation (RIN). 

Grejner-Brzezinska was honored for her outstanding academic career devoted to positioning and navigation technologies, as well as her sustained contributions to the leadership of academic, learned and professional bodies.

The society works to develop and promote the art and science of navigation and unite those with a professional or personal interest in the subject.

Grejner-Brzezinska earned her PhD in Geodetic Science from The Ohio State University in 1995 and joined the civil engineering faculty in 1998. Shortly after, she established the Satellite Positioning and Inertial Navigation (SPIN) Laboratory. Her research focuses on Global Positioning System (GPS) and other space-based location technologies, inertial navigation, and sensor integration for assured location and navigation. 

She serves as executive vice president and fellow of the Institute of Navigation (ION) and president and fellow of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) Commission 4 “Positioning and Applications.” In addition to her latest fellowship, Brzezinska has also received the ION Thurlow Award for outstanding contributions to the science of navigation and the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation Academic Research Award, among others.
