College of Engineering Distinguished Faculty Awards 2013 honorees
Faculty members named Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science are: 
David B. Williams, Monte Ahuja Endowed Dean of the College of Engineering and executive dean of the professional colleges 
William Marras, professor, integrated systems engineering, physical medicine and rehabilitation, orthopaedics
Rama Yedavalli, professor, mechanical and aerospace engineering

Faculty members receiving Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) awards, the National Science Foundation’s most prestigious award recognizing a young researcher’s dual commitment to scholarship and education, are:
Mike Bond, assistant professor, computer science and engineering 
Kannan Srinivasan, assistant professor, computer science and engineering 
Radu Teodorescu, assistant professor, computer science and engineering 
Manoj Srinivasan, assistant professor, mechanical and aerospace engineering 
The four awardees also each received at least $400,000 to support their research.

Stanley E. Harrison Faculty Award for Excellence in Engineering Education: Jessica O. Winter, CBE

"Building Bridges" Excellence Award: Prabir K. Dutta, Chemistry
Charles E. MacQuigg Award for Outstanding Teaching: Lisa M. Abrams, MAE; Satya Seetharaman, MAE; and D. Scott Sink, ISE
David C. McCarthy Engineering Teaching Award: Robert A. Siston, MAE
Dean’s Meritorious Service to Students Award: Tom Burns, The Dow Chemical Company

Honda-OSU Partnership Award: Daniel A. Kramer, ILO

Additional awards:


Gulsah Akar, assistant professor, city and regional planning, and professors Rabi Mishalani (principal investigator) and Mark McCord, civil, environmental and geodetic engineering, were awarded a $40,000 research grant from the NEXTRANS Center for their project, “Investigating the Potential of Employer-based Real-Time Ridesharing”.

Gil Bohrer, assistant professor, civil, environmental and geodetic engineering, and Alper Yilmaz, associate professor of civil, environmental and geodetic engineering and computer science and engineering, received an NSF Rapid Response Research award to evaluate the consequences on greenhouse gas fluxes of “superstorm” Sandy on a temperate urban coastal wetland in New Jersey.

Jacob Boswell, assistant professor, landscape architecture, received a 2013 Ohio State University Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching, the university’s highest teaching honor.

Marcelo Dapino, professor, mechanical and aerospace engineering, was elected Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Bob Gustafson, professor, food, agricultural and biological engineering, received a 2013 Ohio State President and Provost's Award for Distinguished Faculty Service.

Hamish Fraser, professor, materials science engineering, was named Fellow of the Microscopy Society of America

Jesus J. Lara, assistant professor, city and regional planning, received an Ohio State 2013 Emerging Community Engagement Award for the Sustainable Futures for Linden Village project.

Prabhakar Pathak, professor emeritus, electrical and computer engineering, received the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society’s 2013 Distinguished Achievement Award.

Stephen Sebo, professor emeritus, electrical and computer engineering, received the 2013 H.C. Ko Meritorious Service Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Rajendra Singh, Donald D. Glower Chair and professor, mechanical and aerospace engineering, received the 2013 Ralph Coats Roe Award by the Mechanical Engineering Division of the American Society of Engineering Educators.

Vishnu Sundaresan, assistant professor, mechanical and aerospace engineering, received a National Science Foundation Early-concept Grant for Exploratory Research to fund his investigation of the coupled transport processes in an active nanoporous membrane.
