OSU Airport Hosts Flight Competition

Posted:
The best and the brightest in collegiate aviation return to The Ohio State University to display their talents at the annual NIFA Safety and Flight Evaluation Conference (SAFECON). Through our partnership with the National Intercollegiate Flying Association, SAFECON will land at The Ohio State University Airport May 16-21, 2011.

SAFECON is a national competition that brings together more than 300 students from 30 colleges and universities to vie to be national champions for both team and pilot honors. This competition develops and advances aviation education through a strong emphasis on aviation safety. The conference that envelops the competition provides a foundation to promote and foster communications and cooperation between aviation students, educators, and the aviation industry.

“The Ohio State Airport is proud to host the nation’s top college students in aviation. SAFECON gives these students a chance to showcase their knowledge and skill in aviation. It also is a great way for these students to network with aviation professionals,” said Douglas Hammon, airport director.

“Hosting SAFECON is a perfect fit for the airport’s mission statement to provide a learning laboratory and professional experience for students seeking to lead, develop and operate tomorrows safe and efficient global aviation system,” Hammon added.
