Admissions
New first-year students
Students who have been admitted to Ohio State indicating engineering as their area of interest and having a minimum ACT Math score of 24 or SAT Math score of 560 will be directly enrolled as pre-engineering students in the College of Engineering.
Students not eligible to directly enroll in engineering may enroll in the Science and Technology Exploration Program that is part of our Undergraduate Student Academic Services.

Transfer students
Enrollment for transfer students in the College of Engineering is competitive. For students transferring from another institution of higher education:
- If you have fewer than 45 credits hours, you will be considered under the criteria for new students in Engineering as described in the previous sections.
- If you have more than 45 credit hours and a GPA at your previous institution of 2.8 or higher, you will be directly enrolled as a pre-major in the program of your choice. You may not enter as an undeclared pre-major.
- If you have more than 45 credits hours but do not meet the 2.8 GPA, your application will be considered on an individual basis by the major you have indicated. You may not enter as an undeclared major.
Students who are not eligible to directly enroll in Engineering may enroll in the Science and Technology Exploration Program in Undergraduate Student Academic Services (USAS).
