Hosted by the Women in Engineering Program at The Ohio State University and made possible through the generous support of the Honda-OSU Partnership, the Engineers in Motion Summer Camp (EIM) is a six-day, residential summer program for high school students who will be entering grades 10 or 11 in the fall of 2009. During the workshop, students will live in one of the dorms on Ohio State’s Columbus campus and will participate in hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations designed to introduce them to different areas within the field of engineering. These activities, demonstrations, and presentations will be led by OSU engineering faculty and graduate students. Each evening, participants will engage in recreational activities designed to give them an idea of what college life is like at Ohio State, and on the last day of the workshop, students will have the opportunity to visit Honda of America Manufacturing in Marysville, Ohio.
EIM 2009 will run from Sunday, July 5th, through Friday, July 10th.
Except for a nonrefundable application fee of $25.00, EIM 2009 is available free of charge to all participants. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available to cover the cost of the application fee. For more information about scholarships, please contact Ruth Friedman at the phone number or e-mail address given below.
Admission to EIM is competitive and will be based on an applicant’s personal statement, a teacher recommendation from one of the applicant’s current math or science teachers, and a copy of the applicant’s most recent grade report for the 2008-09 school year.
Applications are welcome from any male or female student who is interested in learning more about engineering and who will be entering the 10th or 11th grade in the fall of 2009. Applications will be accepted through March 16, 2009, and admissions decisions will be mailed out by May 1, 2009.
To begin the application process, please complete and submit the online registration form, which is available by clicking on the "Register Online" link that appears at the top and bottom of this page. Once you have submitted the online registration form, a confirmation screen should appear with your confirmation number and additional information about the event (including how to pay the $25.00 application fee, how to submit a copy of your most recent grade report and your personal statement, and how to access and submit the EIM 2009 Teacher Recommendation Form). You should also receive an e-mail containing this information.
If you do not see the confirmation screen and/or receive a confirmation e-mail, please contact Ruth Friedman at the phone number or e-mail address given below. Your application will be considered incomplete and will not be processed until your application fee, grade report, personal statement, and teacher recommendation have been received.
