All dates for this event occur in the past.

The Ohio State University - Columbus Campus
United States

Hosted by the Honda-OSU Partnership and the Women in Engineering Program (WiE) in The Ohio State University’s College of Engineering, WiE RISE is a six-day, residential summer camp designed to introduce female students to Ohio State's undergraduate engineering majors and related career fields. Young women who are rising high school seniors are eligible to apply.

Participants are housed in a dorm on the university's Columbus campus, where they are supervised by four residential advisors. All meals and transportation are provided for students throughout the camp.

WiE RISE will consist of at least two academic sessions or off-campus field trips each day. These sessions will provide students with an in-depth introduction to some of the undergraduate engineering majors offered at Ohio State and also to related career fields. These sessions will be led by Ohio State engineering faculty and graduate students and will consist of an introductory presentation followed by a fun, hands-on activity. In addition to learning about our undergraduate engineering program, participants will spend time getting to know current Ohio State University female engineering students and hearing about their undergraduates' engineering experiences, job opportunities, and future career paths. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit area corporations and businesses to see firsthand the work that engineers do and the important role that they play in our local, regional, national, and global communities.

Each evening, participants will engage in social and recreational activities designed to introduce them to the undergraduate experience at Ohio State University. These may include bowling and singing karaoke at a campus-area entertainment center; screening a film at the South Campus Gateway theater; shopping at Easton Town Center; or visiting a neighborhood pottery studio.

All daytime and evening activities are supervised by members of the program's staff.
