Hire Policy
After internal control changes were put in place within the
College of Engineering and the University, our College developed
a form for use when making entries in Job Data. This two-page
form (or equivalent) is to be used to assist the enterer in
making entries, and the approver in the review/approval of job
data entries.
Nepotism Policy
A recent management review conducted by the OSU Internal Audit
Office made the College of Engineering aware that nepotism issues
had often gone undetected until problems arose. Without
notification from employees that possible nepotism issues exist,
we are in some cases unable to determine if immediate family
members are directly responsible for the decision to hire; or for
the supervision, direction, evaluation, or salary recommendation
of a family member. Although the University has a nepotism
policy, the college decided it was important to initiate a
preventative measure and created a nepotism form which would
allow employees to disclose potential nepotism issues.
Overpayment Policy
A recent management review conducted by the OSU Internal Audit
Office made the College of Engineering aware that overpayments
are occasionally made to employees for various reasons, including
late terminations, late entries of changes to appointments, etc.
Although it is the responsibility of employees to return
overpayments, the unit is responsible for assuring that this is
completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Salary Administration Policy
Each summer, the university begins its compensation planning and
salary distribution process. This process includes determining
annual salary increases, processing the changes and notifying
faculty, staff, and student employees.
Termination Policy
Internal control changes necessitated better documentation of
personnel actions. An Employee Transfer/Termination Form was
created for use within the College of Engineering.
